Artist: Vanessa Leadley. Vanessa is a member of the Bay Of Islands Art Group and is an emerging artist who has been experimenting with multi-media including acrylic, watercolour, pastel and silk, as well as enjoying doing collage work.
“Humming bird fantasy.” Acrylic on canvas. 23 x 23 cm. This small, whimsical painting depicts humming birds displaying their vibrant colours in a fantasy of grace and beauty. Reserve: $20.00
Artist: Di West. Bio.: Di is a highly qualified painter and sculptor who graduated from the Brisbane Institute of Art with a Certificate in Fine Art and a Diploma in Fine Art, and then finished a Master in Fine Art Degree at the QUT, Kelvin Grove, Brisbane, Australia. Now resident in the Bay Of Islands and a member of the Bay Of Islands Art group Di’s work is exhibited in major Art Galleries in New Zealand and Australia and is in many corporate and private collections. She has won many awards for her paintings and sculptures and works towards Solo and Group exhibitions each year. Her focus is always one of optimism, often showing challenges in life, and frequently with an injection of humour and playfulness.

Artist: Zandra Pirie. Bio: Zandra has had a love of art which started at high school where she had a wonderful art teacher who transferred her enthusiasm to her. Since then she has painted or been involved with some form of art. She studied with Livia Davis at the Metro School of Art in Christchurch, and Livia encouraged her to paint what she felt, not what other people wanted. Zandra is now resident in the Bay Of Islands where she joined the Bay Of Islands Art Group and counts herself to be very lucky to be in such an inspiring part of the country with such a great group of artists/friends.
“ Black Velvet.” Acrylic on canvas. 76 x 38 cm. Comment – The painting is a dramatic depiction of pansies displaying their beautiful colouring as they burst through from darkness into a world of light. Reserve: $60.00.
Artist: Jenny McDowell. Jenny has been painting for 20 or so years and specialises in large paintings with bright colours, particularly of unusual objects. This interest and her ability is depicted in this painting of large orange pumpkins tumbling down in a mixture of warm colours with interesting contours and shapes. There is beauty in the mundane! Jenny is also a member of the Bay Of Islands Art Group, and is a strong supporter of the Bay Of Islands Vintage Railway.
