The main purpose of membership is to help maintain our historic engines and rolling stock, track, buildings, and, importantly, our vintage engines, including our steam engine, Gabriel. These have become significant in raising the profile of Kawakawa and Northland not only in New Zealand, but also world-wide. In addition, BOIVR is dedicated to acquiring, restoring and preserving New Zealand railway memorabilia. Members help us to keep our beautiful engines and rolling stock on the rails for future generations to enjoy.
Please note that new memberships are suspended at present due to changes in managing of BOIVR.
You could volunteer to assist BOIVR in running the railway – for more information please click here.
Please note that the Club changed its title from “The Gabriel Club” to “Friends of BOIVR” and we are in the process of updating all the relevant documentation, etc.
